Drogar jyid is from Tanshan Ling Township, Tianzhu Tibetan autonomous County, Wuwei Region, Gansu Province. She is a student in Qinghai Normal University Nationalities Department English Training Program.

Location of the project
Tan Shan Ling Township is in the western part of Tian Zhu Autonomous County, Gansu Province; Tan Shan Ling Township is 60 kilometers from Tianzhu County Town and is about 145 kilometers from Lanzhou city, the provincial capital, and it is 230 kilometers from Xining, the capital of Qinghai province.
Brief Description of Implementation
The project manager has implemented the project in the middle of February in 2009 and it was also Losar (New Year) time. She distributed 40 flashlights to 40 households in Tanshan Ling Village. She taught them how to use it and took pictures. This village is very large; the villagers are both nomads and farmers. Because of the high altitudes the agriculture is not very good, their crop only can feed themselves, but they don’t have extra crops to sell out to earn family cash income. So for those farmers, there are no incomes from their farming land, except those men who go to cities and do some construction work and get some money from the hard works (such as paving roads). For nomads, they also don’t have much income from butter or milk, during summer, it’s a little free for them, so they also go to cities do some construction work and make some money.

The project manager is giving the flashlight to an older woman whose husband has been sick for 3 years, their son is disrespectful and right now he doesn’t take care of his parents.
This man on the picture is one of the villagers, whose children left their home, so he needs to arrange all the works in the home. He has no wife.
The project manager is teaching the woman how to use the flashlight and the woman is from a very poor family.
The man in the picture is very excited to see the solar flashlight and the project manger is explaining the instruction of using it.
