Tshe Skyid Lha Mo is from Luhuo County, Ganzi Autonomous Prefecture and Sichuan Province, PR China. She is currently working towards an associated degree in English at the Qinghai Normal Universities Department English Training Program.
What: To provide 50 Flash lights for 40 household in Nor ‘ur village.

Brief Description of Implementation
The overall goal of the project is to help villagers to see things when there is no light, especially for the older people who need to go to the toilet in the night. Also the villagers don’t need to buy batteries. The total beneficiaries of this project are 42 households in Nor ‘ur village which is about 202 people. They do not need to afraid of the darkness, even not the batteries. It is convenient for them to take the flashlight any where they go. So after I received the flash lights from Shem Group on January 9th, 2009, I informed the villagers to get the solar flashlights and on 14th I gave the flashlights to them. There were only 40 flash lights, so I had to ask them vote, because there are 42 households in that village, and two of them did not get it. But I gave them better clothes, since I have done second hand cloth project as well. The villagers are very happy about that and they pray for the donor and the Shem Women’s Group.

This picture is showing that the villagers were so happy with the flashlight. Each of them is holding a flashlight. They keep saying thanks to the project manager who is sitting on the ground.
The project manager is writing numbers on the paper to ask the villagers to lot, because there are 42 villagers and only 40 flash lights, so she has to do that. But the villagers are also happy to do that. The villagers are take a paper one by one from the manager, if there is a number on the paper, then the person can get a flash light, if there is zero on the paper then the person has no flash light. So it is really fun to let them choose, see everybody is smiling.
The woman got a light after she chooses a paper and she is very happy to get it. Actually, every body hopes they could get one, because they think it is very useful for them to do things in the night.
The villagers were waiting for the manager to give clothes to the left two households who did not get the flashlight.

Our village is located in lao jie township, Luhuo county, Ganzi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, in PR China. And we received 40 solar flashlights. Our project manager distributed the flashlights very equally. Our village has 42 households but she let us lot and the left two households got two good clothes, because the manager is also doing second hand clothes project. The solar flash lights are very useful and very convenient to use. The most helpful thing is that the solar flashlights don’t need batteries; we do not need to spend any cash to buy batteries. Especially, in the summer we have to herding the livestock in the forest, so usually we loss our livestock there, now we can take the solar flashlight while we herd, it will help us a lot. Thanks a lot. We will cherish the lights and pray for you forever.
