Jaktso Kye is from Duowa Village, Hexi Township, Guide County, Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, and China. Currently she is studying at Qinghai Nationalities University.

What: To provide 49 solar flashlights to 20 old people and 29 the poor families in Duowa village.

Brief Description of Implementation
This project was implemented on August 10th of 2009 during the summer vocation. This time is the busiest time in a year for farmers. I, the project manager got 49 solar flashlights from Shem Women’s Group and all these flashlights were distributed to elders and the poor families in Duowa village.

For old people, it is very hard to go to the toilet at night; also the road around Duowa village is very terrible, especially at the raining time. Many old people got hurt, because they tumbled in the muddy road at night while they go to toilet. Therefore, from my parents’ suggestion and my own thoughts, I gave the solar flashlights to those elders and poor families.

Because of harvesting time, it was not very convenient for the villagers to get together, so while distributing the solar flashlights, I went from house to house under my father’s help and handed all the solar flashlights to the people in the village.

He is the oldest man in Duowa Village and he looks at the flashlights again and again after I told him the right usage of the solar flashlight. Because he has never seen such a convenient light before, he’s very happy to have one.

The woman in the picture is named Tsebo and her family is also very poor, so I gave her one solar flashlight and she is very appreciative of getting the solar flashlight.

The project manager Jaktso Kye is telling one of the villagers the usage of the solar flashlights and how to charge solar flashlights correctly.

Right after I told them the usage of this solar flashlights, the woman on the picture tried to use it for looking for something.

She is one of the beneficiaries of this project and she is very happy to get it. Her name is Tsedronjie and she is almost 40 year old. Her 2 daughters are in the Middle school and her husband always go out to work for their essential life conditions. Only she left at home for care home most time.

This woman in the picture is called ShangKo and she is curious about the solar flashlight and said that it is her first time to see this kind of flash lights.

This picture was taken on the way to villager’s households to distribute solar flashlights and because it rained a lot and the road was terrible.

One of the solar flashlights was given to her and she was very happy, she said many auspicious things to me and to the donor. Her name is Duobo and she is about 46 years old. She doesn’t have husband and she lives with her 13-year-age son and her father who is a monk. Therefore, while her son goes to school, her life is much difficult than others.

The man’s name is Tenzen Bo and the project manager gave one solar flashlight to him and he was so happy to have it

He is an Aka (Monk in English) and he is very happy to get the solar flashlight. He told the project manager that even though he is not going to have the chance of meeting the donor, he will pray for the happiness of the donor all the time.

These people are also the beneficiaries of solar flashlights project. They are very happy to have the solar flashlights and keep saying thanks to the project manger and the donor.

It also helped to alleviate many significant problems of environment, because use battery is very harmful for environment and this will change the situation. Also it is easy for the villagers to find something they need after they have solar flashlights. Therefore, I present all the villagers in Duowa village to say thanks for your help, your kindness and compassion will be in our mind forever and we will always pray for you. Finally, we wish everything that you are doing and expected would be successful.
